On February 24th, 2023, the University of Utah announced that Athletic Director Mark Harlan and Head Football Coach Kyle Whittingham have agreed to a contract extension that will keep Whittingham at the helm of the Utes football program through the 2029 season.

Details of the Contract Extension

  • The new contract will pay Whittingham an annual salary of $5.3 million, making him one of the highest-paid coaches in the Pac-12 Conference.

Whittingham's Success at Utah

Whittingham has been the head football coach at Utah since 2005, and has compiled a record of 150-71 during his tenure.

He has led the Utes to 10 bowl games, including the 2023 Rose Bowl, and has won the Pac-12 South division title three times.

In 2021, Whittingham led the Utes to their first Pac-12 Championship game, where they lost to Oregon.
